Journal 11: IXC = Epic Spartans
So this past weekend I went to a cross country banquet at Iolani’s cafeteria. I gave an excellent speech about my time in cross country (I’ve been running since 7th grade) and I also gave some advice and tips to running faster. And then I realized… wait. That’s some physics action right there! Because you need to build your momentum before you reach a hill to help you run over it. And then I thought wait… that was exactly like that one question on the problem set! So you need to speed up your velocity which builds your momentum, then you can use that momentum to give you an easier time pushing yourself up a hill. Almost exactly like those energy equations with the KE turning into PE and seeing how high up the slope the car or marble goes.
We also played some football and watched a soccer game before the event so that was some projectile motion physics stuff happening.
Also, earlier, I watched 300. My favorite part is when King Leonidus kicks the Persian messenger into the well. That part is so epicly awesome. And theres even some Physics things happening there. I think its momentum because his foot collides with the Persian’s chest, which sends him flying away. So the momentum from Leonidus is transferred through the collision into the Persian. Nice.
“NO ONE THREATENS A MESSENGER! THIS IS MADNESS!!!! THIS IS BLASPHEMY!!”

actually, its physics :3

I went to Hawaiian Brian’s this weekend. I found out that I got really bad at pool… ORZ. epic ftl right there. But who cares about billiards anyway. Hah. qq. Anyway, I tried to use my physics mastery in using momentum and vectors and stuff that we’ve been doing in class recently, but I still got owned. I think my pool stick wasn’t straight or something. haha. Momentum is transferred through collisions between the cue ball and the other balls to knock them into the pockets located on the sides and corners of the table. I wondered if the cue ball is less massive than the other balls, but unfortunately, I didn’t have that scale in Mr.K’s room. But it did seem lighter at the time. If the cue ball is lighter, then after the impact, the other pool balls will have a smaller change in velocity after the collision.
I was also watching this pro guy play and he was doing some cool stuff by putting english on the cue ball and stuff and making it have lots of back spin and stuff. The coolest thing is when you make the cue ball jump over one ball and hit another one in the pocket. I can do that. :3
Li Hing Arare is delicious

very delishous. I believe it is also known as Li Hing Kakimochi.

“I took off of school on thursday and friday because there was a huge south swell last week and…” haha no no just kidding. I was on Maui for CROSS COUNTRY STATES!!!1!1!11!!111 wooooohoooo! Tyla and Elysse were there. They know about it too. It was so epic. There was so much of Newton’s 3rd law that I fainted. And Robert Tamai almost fainted too. oh wait. that was last last week. my bad.
Anyway, lets focus on the current chapter. I was watching the race because I was the alternate runner, so I couldn’t feel the Physics like Tyler and Elysse did. Oh wait. I ran the warm ups, so I did feel the Physics. THERE WAS MOMENTUM DOWN THE HILLS!!! zomg. Momentum = Mass x Velocity. We should have a momentum challenge like how we had a power challenge. I think I could do well because I can reach speeds of up to Mach 5. lol.

Here’s me posing for the camera. Hah. I should have won that power contest.
Some guys got really sunburnt.
